I am really sorry to hear that, but seriously. This fandom is a mess. I don’t want to be part of it if this is what it is like. The post I have just reblogged sums up most of my feelings about the current situation and I don’t want to witter on - but it isn’t fair. It seems that to be a part of this fandom you have to ship Johnlock. If you don’t, you’re ‘wrong’. Because, of course, who a person ships is the be all and end all of the everything. (I honestly wish some people would grow up - it is just a TV show, after all.) The majority of Johnlock shippers think that they have more of a right and are, for a lack of the word, ‘better’ fans of the show because of who they ship.
It is SO infuriating.
You are also wrong if you do not think think that Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman are God’s gifts. I must admit, I do admire Ben a lot (Martin not so much because… well, have you heard what comes out of his mouth?) but making them out to be perfect human beings is wrong. They are not, by any stretch of the imagination. Nobody is. Expect from Andrew Scott, maybe.
I am sick to death of the Sherlock fandom and its fucked up attitude towards everything. Amanda doesn’t want her children to see porn that, in their minds, is of their father? “What a bitch!” Martin condones rape in an interview and just laughs it off? “Well, he’s only human…”
This Amanda Abbington hate has to fucking stop.
Seriously. All you fucking Johnlock shippers thinking you’re fucking entitled to an opinion? Sending someone hate isn’t a fucking opinion. Calling Amanda an ignorant twat on twitter isn’t a fucking opinion. Telling her she doesn’t understand something when she clearly does is fucking stupidity. You have no fucking right to send her hate or anything like this. She is a normal person going about her day, and you little shits think you’re entitled to have an ‘opinion’?
Do you feel fucking smart sitting behind your computer trying to convince the mother of two children and the partner of the person who plays half your OTP that Johnlock is ‘normal’ and that her comments about wanting to protect her kids from that are invalid? I’m sorry, but do any of you actually have children? I’m pretty sure all of you are children yourselves, and need to get a fucking life. Because there’s more to life than shipping. Amanda is an actual person. As I’ve said before, she isn’t just ‘Mary off Sherlock’, she’s a fucking mother. She’s a fucking human being. And she deserves more respect than any of you little shits deserve yourselves.
I am honestly sick to death of this fandom. I am utterly ashamed to be a fan of Sherlock. It’s gotten to the point where I could meet one of the cast randomly on the street, and I’d say, “I’m a huge fan of Sherlock” and they’d look at me and automatically lump me in with a group of sixteen year old girls who do nothing but sit around reading, watching, writing, or drawing gay porn involving their two male leads. This is what this fandom has been reduced to, and all because of the insensitive little idiots that think shipping is the most important thing in the universe.
No one in their right mind would think that shipping is more important than a mother wanting to protect their kids. Amanda was right in saying that the people sending hate and who were offended are insane. Because no sane person would ever have that kind of mentality. At all. This was never even about Johnlock. Everyone blew this out of proportion. You all think you’re entitled to some form of fucking opinion on the fact that Johnlock is important because you ‘support the show’. You don’t support the show. You support the fantasies the show creates.
Stop trying to condescend Amanda and saying she doesn’t fucking understand shipping and what Johnlock is. She fucking understands perfectly. You are a fucking teenager holed up behind a laptop reading about two imaginary characters fucking each other, do not think for one second that you know any better than Amanda, because you know nothing.
So, Sherlock Fandom, in short… You. Repel. Me.
It is at times like this when I really am glad I am not part of the Sherlock fandom.
